This week, we got our brief for our Principles of Interaction final project.

Damn, am I scared.

Partly, because I really want to pull this off to the best of my ability — to make sure that I wholeheartedly pour my mind into this beast and deliver a hell of a performance, but partly also because I haven’t been feeling myself.

For the last week, I’ve been zoned out from my classes and my life. I don’t know where I’ve been — probably lost somewhere in my head. Between medication side effects and going to the doctor, I’ve been too preoccupied to remember what I’m doing. Every morning I wake up and have to tell myself who I am and what I’m in the middle of.

This is it. We’re in the death throes of the semester. We have less than a month left. Just have to make it past the finish line. And what better way to top it off with an almost meta-assignment about a wireframe application for teachers to use in the middle of a pandemic.

It’s not difficult (it’s always harder thank you think, but still). It’s just a ton of work. There are angles that we need to consider. Approach it with everything we’ve gathered over the last 2 semesters. I’ll have to plan this out — take it step by step. From the thought-cycle, to multiple user considerations, to exceptions and universality of design, to the principles of affordance, controls, feedbacks, visibility and constraints and to mental models and metaphors in work. I’ll have to go through other apps that have a similar purpose — Google Classroom primarily. Using the suite has both helped and hindered us — we must look at new avenues of attack. Duolingo, Managebac, the old SLATE system from FAST — these are just some of the considerations that will have to be researched. This will be a long hunt. But he who is prepared has already won half the battle.
